Teleflex Announces Executive Appointment, R. Ernest Waaser Named President of Teleflex Medical

LIMERICK, Pa.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX ) today announced that R. Ernest Waaser has been appointed president of Teleflex Medical. A division of Teleflex Incorporated, Teleflex Medical provides well-known, branded disposable medical products, surgical instruments and specialty devices for a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures. The division has operations in 18 countries, over 7,000 employees worldwide and 2005 revenues of over $830 million.



"Ernest Waaser's operational experience in the global medical industry is the perfect fit for Teleflex Medical," said Jeffrey P. Black, chairman and chief executive officer of Teleflex. "His proven ability to grow an international medical business through a combination of new product development, expansion into new markets, and mergers and acquisitions will help us to drive Teleflex Medical to the next level."

Most recently, Waaser served as president and chief executive officer at Hill-Rom, a $1.3 billion global provider of healthcare solutions including patient room equipment, therapeutic wound and pulmonary care products, biomedical equipment services, and communications systems. During his four year tenure at Hill-Rom, the company grew revenues and profits significantly and expanded into new segments. He led initiatives to increase new product development efforts, improve product quality, increase productivity across the company's manufacturing platform, and facilitate acquisition integration.

Waaser joins Teleflex with a 28 year career in research and development, operations, and general management with multinational corporations. His experience includes tenure as senior vice president of Agfa Corporation and president of the Medical Imaging Division where he led a significant integration and growth program with the acquisition of Sterling Diagnostic by Agfa. Waaser started his career at E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Co., where he spent 18 years primarily in the industrial and diagnostic imaging businesses.
