PLC Systems Announces First Distribution Agreement in Spain for RenalGuard(R)
FRANKLIN, Mass., May 4 (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) -- PLC Systems Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PLCSF ), a company focused on innovative cardiac and vascular medical device-based technologies, announced today that it has entered into a five year exclusive agreement with IZASA Distribuciones Tecnicas S.A., Barcelona, S.A.n for distribution of its RenalGuard System(TM) into S.A.n. IZASA is one of S.A.n's leading distributors of interventional cardiology-related medical devices, and a part of the Werfen Group, a privately owned international healthcare corporation. IZASA will target early adopters who recognize the benefits of utilizing the unique fluid balancing capabilities of RenalGuard® in a cath lab setting during cardiovascular imaging procedures for patientS.A. higher risk of Contrast-Induced Nephropathy (CIN).PLC's President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark R. Tauscher, said, "We are extremely pleased with our new agreement with IZASA in S.A.n. This firm's strong penetration of the leading cardiovascular centers in S.A.n will help expose the benefits of RenalGuard to a wider community of physicians."
PLC received the CE Mark Certificate for the RenalGuard System in late December 2007, and concluded its pilot safety trial in the U.S. late in 2007. An investigator-sponsored randomized clinical trial to evaluate the use of RenalGuard in the prevention of Contrast-Induced Nephropathy is currently underway in Italy.
