Spine Surgical Innovation announces the launch of the In-Situ Cobalt Chrome (CoCr) 3.2 and 3.5mm Rod Cutters
South Easton, MA, April 7, 2011 - (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) - Spine Surgical Innovation announced today the launch of the In-Situ Cobalt Chrome (CoCr) 3.2 and 3.5mm Rod CuttersTraditionally CoCr rods have been cut on the back table with a table mounted rod cutter which had necessitated extra steps in measuring, removing, cutting and reinserting the rod into the wound and construct.
“With SSI’s engineering capabilities, we have been able through design and metallurgic expertise, to solve the problem and now have a rod cutting device designed to cut this very strong CoCr rod material in-situ, where it is needed. The cutter saves the patient and surgeon time and leaves the rod with a clean cut, best approximating the optimal length for the construct.” says Chris Zorn, Vice President of SSI.

We solved this problem by applying sound mechanical and metallurgic engineering capability and intensive and thorough QC and stress testing. We can now provide a surgeon the capability of cutting CoCr rods, in-situ, in the wound channel, saving both patient and OR team time, with less manipulation of the finished construct. “
