Healogics and The Ohio State University Renew Partnership

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, has announced an agreement to continue its partnership with The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Since 2004, Healogics and OSU have been working together through clinical research and education, to directly impact the wound care industry. Healogics brings a myriad of operational and clinical best practices to effectively and efficiently manage The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Comprehensive Wound Center.

Chronic wounds affect millions of people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and the late effects of Radiation Therapy. Untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb. Healogics and OSU have made a commitment to raise awareness of the chronic wound epidemic to help more patients get the care they need.

“Effective academic-industry partnership is key to transforming health care. It is an extraordinary opportunity to transform clinical care, education and research nationwide,” said Chandan Sen, PhD, Professor of Surgery and Executive Director, Ohio State’s Comprehensive Wound Center.

“The combination of Healogics’ operational, clinical and financial expertise with OSU’s world-class research is a formula for success. We continue to look to OSU to help us advance the field of regenerative medicine, to translate healing from bench to bedside,” said Healogics president & CEO Jeff Nelson.

In March 2014, Healogics and OSU will host the first annual Science and Industry Summit, an event that will bring together dynamic business leaders and cutting-edge scientists in the field of advanced wound care. The Summit will be held in conjunction with the 7th Annual Translational to Clinical Regenerative Medicine Conference (http://regenerativemedicineconference.osu.edu), a CME event hosted by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
