Custom Spine Features Unique Auxiliary Connector System at NASS
CHICAGO, Nov. 1, 2011 -- (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) -- Custom Spine unveils its new auxiliary connector system at this year's NASS in Chicago. This system is an extension to the company's ISSYS LP Pedicle Screw system, which established the bone screw technology that allows the bone screw to be fully seated while maintaining full polyaxial motion of the screw head.This auxiliary connector system is unique in its ability to accept multiple rod sizes in the same connector due to the advanced saddle pin design seen in the company's flagship product, ISSYS. Custom Spine's Auxiliary Connector system features an off-set rod-to-rod connector and s-rod, which allows the extension of a construct that has a 5.5, 6.0 or 6.35mm rod. Simply attach the open side of the connector to the existing construct and attach the s-rod into the other side of the connector. The s-rod can then be dropped into newly implanted bone screws. Also included in this system are off-set connectors and rod-to-rod connectors.
"The addition of the auxiliary connectors, especially the off-set rod-to-rod connector, increases surgeon flexibility when assessing patient care. The surgeon does not need to remove existing implants to create a longer construct, which is a procedure that is more difficult for the patient and requires considerably more time in the operating room," commented Mahmoud Abdelgany, President of Custom Spine.
